Creativeloafing.com managed to sit down and listen to Paul Oakenfolds most recent album and published a review yesterday saying:
In analyzing Paul Oakenfold’s new artist/producer album, A Lively Mind, two seperate audiences can be quickly identified. For the pop minded, Oaki teams up with Pharrell Williams, Grandmaster Flash and Brittany Murphy (yes, the actress), for a few breakbeat tracks. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself bumpin’ and grindin’ at the club to one of these tunes because, much like “Starry-eyed Surprised,” the hit single from Oaki’s previous producer album, Bunkka, you may not know the artist, but you know the song.
The rest of the disc is geared toward Oaki’s faithful: ravers, trancers and romancers who have endured extended hours into the morning light, aroused to the man’s skills behind the decks. Those listeners won’t be disappointed to find a number of melodies (“Save the Last Trance for Me,” “Amsterdam”) packed and ready to go on many a DJ platter. A Lively Mind achieves a certain level of unity between the two camps, and Oaki’s ambitions as an artist are clearly not as grandiose as they were once. 2 stars

Ouch! Personally I don’t think “A Lively Mind” is Paul’s greatest work but at the same time I don’t think it deserved a meager 2 star review score… Faster Kill Pussycat alone carries the album better then 2 stars.. bah
